God. Your mother told you about him. You learned about him in your first religion lessons. Now you know, that he is the Creator of everything, what exists, what surrounds you. He is also your Creator. He loves you. You surely love Him too. Today you are more mature. You know the world better. You learn so much about it, and you will learn more and more. And surely you have many different questions. Can you always answer them? ? You also get to know people, with whom you live. Maybe you have difficulty getting along with others at times. You don't always know, how to proceed. You get to know yourself better and better. Sometimes you dream about your future. Perhaps you also run into difficulties in yourself ?
You are looking for help in solving all these matters and problems. Where can you find her? ? Many people find this help in religion. Or your religious news, you have earned so far, are enough, so that you can answer all these questions ? Learning religion, which you start again, it will allow you to get to know God better and find answers to your questions and difficulties.
God reveals himself
God desiring to show man his love and help him in his difficulties ,spoke to him, that is, he appeared to him.
God first spoke to man through the world, who created. For the world is testifying, that God is, that it is great and perfect. So you can get to know God from the world around us.
Throughout history, however, God spoke to people more directly. Right at the beginning he revealed himself to the first people. Then he called Abraham. He chose his descendants as "his people". He looked after this nation, he had intercourse with him and revealed various truths to him. In this way, he prepared people for the coming of God's Son - Jesus Christ. God's Son became man, he was born of the Virgin Mary, he died and rose again, that all people can find the way to God and live with Him through love. Then the Son of God went to the Father, but still saves people. Someday he will come again, to connect them together forever.
All these events and words, in which God reveals himself for the good of man, we call salvation history.
God is calling
God wants to unite all people. When it appears to people, he does not just provide them with knowledge about himself, but he also reveals his plan for the salvation of all people. He wants to transform people's lives, to keep it better, fairer, full of love. God does it for this, that we may be united with Him forever. And that is why in revelation, which the Scriptures contain, God also speaks about human life and calls us to cooperate with himself. Catechism, which you have in front of you, will help you know and understand, what God has done for your salvation and the salvation of all people.
