Psalm 51

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness,
with the greatness of your mercy, blot out my iniquity!
Wash me completely of my fault
and cleanse me from my sin!
For I acknowledge my iniquity,
and my sin is always before me.
Only against you have I sinned
and I did, what's wrong in front of you,
so that you show yourself righteous in your judgment
and righteous in judgment.
Behold, I am born in guilt
and my mother conceived me in sin.
Here you take delight in hidden truth,
teach me the secrets of wisdom.
Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will become clean,
wash me, and I will make white over the snow.
Make it happen, that I may hear joy and gladness:
let the bones rejoice, which he has broken!
Turn your face away from my sins
and blot out all my transgressions!
Create, Oh my God, a pure heart in me
and renew an invincible spirit in my breast!
Don't cast me away from your face
and take not your holy spirit from me!
Bring back the joy of your salvation
and strengthen me with a willing spirit!
I want to teach the wicked of your ways
and sinners will turn back to you.
Free me from the blood, God, my savior:
let my tongue praise your righteousness!
Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will proclaim your glory.
For you do not rejoice in the sacrifice
and you don't want burnt offerings, even if I gave them.
My victim, God, contrite spirit,
you do not despise, God, a humble and contrite heart.
Lord, show grace to Zion in your goodness:
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem!
Then you will please the righteous victims, gifts and burnt offerings,
then they will lay the calves on your altar.
