Pope John Paul II, whose real name was Karol Józef Wojtyła was born 18 May in 1920 year, while he died 2 April 2005 year. He served as a Roman Catholic bishop, Archbishop of the Archbishop of Krakow, cardinal, until finally in years 1969 -1978 he was the deputy chairman of the Polish Bishops' Conference. From 16 October 1978 do 2 April 2005 year he was pope.

He associated his childhood and youth with his native Wadowice. Karol Wojtyla, who graduated from high school with excellent results, decided to study Polish at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University. When he was unable to continue his studies because of the war, decided to work in a quarry in Zakrzówek. At the same time he was active in the Rapsodyczny Theater, z którym również szybko się rozstał ze względu na decyzję o podjęciu nauki na teologii. Swoje święcenia kapłańskie przyjął dokładnie 1 November in 1946 year, while the next day he celebrated the first mass at Wawel.

Karol Wojtyła was famous for his great contact with young people at every stage of his life. He could joke with them, besides, he had such passions as hiking in the mountains, canoeing, or even writing beautiful poems.

The attempt was a very difficult experience, who luckily survived. This incident happened 13 May 1981 year in St. Peter's Square in Rome. A Turkish attacker shot John Paul II. The pope, however, forgave his torturer.
